A Mexico volcanoes mountaineering adventure for those with
limited time. Our goal is to safely summit Pico de Orizaba
with proper acclimating time, but in the shortest time away
from home as possible.
Our Orizaba express itinerary has been refined after many
years of operating climbs of Orizaba. We feel we have the
best itinerary to ensure proper acclimating and to give you
the best possible chances for success.
From Mexico City we travel to La Malinche (14,600 ft) where
we begin our acclimating at a comfortable government-run resort
with easy hikes and a summit of this fun and rewarding peak.
Then we journey East to the base of Pico de Orizaba where
we take an exciting 4WD trip to Orizaba base camp. While on
Orizaba we will stay at the Piedra Grande hut at 14,000 ft
on the flanks of Pico de Orizaba.
Climbing Pico de Orizaba involves the use of basic mountaineering
skills with ice axe and crampons on steep snow. While not
a difficult mountain climb, climbing Orizaba does require
good stamina. Your mountain guide will review all the skills
necessary to summit this spectacular Volcano, the third highest
peak in North America.
We provide private ground transportation throughout Mexico
and our lodging choices are among the finest with your comfort
in mind. A great Mexico mountain climbing trip for those with
limited time and high altitude climbing goals
