| A customized all-inclusive Joshua Tree rock climbing course
for those looking for more advanced in-depth rock climbing
instruction. This rock climbing class includes personilzed
rock climbing instruction in traditional rock climbing leading
techniques as well as instruction in multi-pitch rock climbing,
self-rescue and advanced crack climbing on some classic Joshua
Tree rock climbs.
Gain in-depth knowledge of protection placement, leading
strategy, rock climbing anchor building, multi-pitch climbing
and belay management. Climbing techiques will cover advanced
crack climbing techniques such as finger crack and off-width
cracks. We will also cover the basics of climber self rescue
such as belay escapes, tandem rappelling and raising and lowering
systems.
Days will be spent midst the beautiful granite formations
and surreal landscapes of Joshua Tree. Nights will be spent
relaxing around the campfire enjoying fine camp cuisine prepared
by your guide and taking in the starry Joshua Tree nights.
Taught by American Mountain Guides Association certified
rock climbing guides and CAG owner's Dave Miller and Scott
Brown. Combined, they both have over 45 years of rock climbing
experience on the some of North America's major rock climbs.
In addition, Scott has many years of experience on Yosemite's
search and rescue team.

Food & Camping: Breakfast
& dinner & non-alcoholic beverages are included and
prepared by your guide / camp chef. Meal choices include classic
goumet camp cuisine such as dutch-oven roasts and baked goods,
grilled vegetables and meats and campfire treats. Four nights
of camping is provided at a group site within Joshua Tree
National Park and tents and group camping gear are included.
Sleeping bag and pad rentals can be arranged for an extra
fee. Your guide will be happy to share with you their local
knowledge if you plan to spend more time rock climbing in
Joshua Tree after the course.
Prerequisites: Ability to top
rope 5.9 crack and face rock climbs is required. Some previous
leading expereince in rock gyms or on bolted sport climbs
is reccomended, but not required.
Dates 2007: Custom dates from October through April
- minimum of 3 days.
Cost: $290 per day for one,
$190 per person per day for two to three. Ratio is no more
than 1:3
Includes: Breakfast and dinner
every day except dinner the last day; Joshua Tree National
Park campsite fees and group camping equipment (tents, group
cookware); All technical rock climbing equipment except rock
climbing shoes is provided (shoe rental can be arranged).
*A $10.00 per vehicle entrance fee is required to enter Joshua
Tree National Park.
