Looking for a different kind of climbing experience?
Try ice climbing! This adventure is for those with basic rock
climbing or snow climbing skills who are looking to try the
very different world of ice climbing.
A fun two-day course teaching the basics of technical ice
climbing skills. You will learn a full spectrum of ice climbing
techniques with instruction in proper crampon techniques,
equipment selections, tool placements, movement on ice, basic
protection placement and basic anchor systems…plus
plenty of time on the ice.
For those with big mountains in mind, there’s no better
way to hone your skills. This is a complete introduction to
the world of water ice climbing.
Location: Lee Vining Canyon
or June Lake area (depending on ice conditions) which is approx.
30 minutes north of the resort town of Mammoth Lakes. Five
hours from Los Angeles and Five hours from the SF Bay area.
Prerequisites: Some previous
rock climbing or mountaineering experience preferred, but

Cost: $300.00
Includes: Group climbing equipment
such as ice tools, ropes and technical gear. Personal climbing
gear such as harness, helmet and crampons is provided. Boot
rentals available.
Trip is operated by Sierra Mountaineering
International, a company permitted through the Inyo
National Forest.
