Zermatt is and enchanting special place. Under the shadow of the iconic Matterhorn, Zermatt is a major worldwide hub of skiing and ski mountaineering. Skiing in Zermatt is a an experience any back country ski mountaineer will not soon forget.

IAG owner and IFMGA internationally certified ski mountaineeing guide Dave Miller leads custom off-piste ski trips in Zermatt from early March through the middle of April. He will customize your ski trip to suit our goals and skiing ability.

The options range from easy glaciated ski tours to steep and somewhat technical descents. The day tours range from the famous Schwatrztor Tour with an ascent of the 13,000 ft Breithorn to easy ski touring under the North Face of the Matterhorn. Multi-day tours could include a 2-3 ascent of Monte Rosa (Switzerland's highest peak) to hut to hut tours from Zermatt to neighboring Saas Fee. There are many, many options.

The resort on-piste skiing in Zermatt and adjacent Cervinia, Italy is massive. A ski vacation that combines both some resort skiing with off-piste ski mountaineering is quite popular.

Prerequisites: Advanced level skiers. No previous backcountry skiing or mountaineering experience required.
