An in-depth rock climbing course in traditional leading
techniques and self-rescue for those wanting to take the lead end of the rope.
Located in the beautiful Sequoia area on the West side of
the Sierra Nevada, this climbing course is perfect for those
with some previous climbing experience or those who have been
leading sport climbs but want instruction in protecting rock
climbs with gear.
- Anchor Building & Protection Placement
- Lead Strategy
- Crack Climbing Techniques
- Multi-pitch Climbing Techniques
- Self-rescue when something goes wrong
We begin with thorough instruction in anchor building and
protection placement. We then move on to putting together
the lead and everyone gets a lot of time doing "mock"
leads with gear and anchor evaluation by a professional rock
guide. We then move on to an introduction into multi-pitch
climbing with an emphasis on efficient climbing techniques.
We also spend over a day on self rescue techniques on how to rescue an injured partner. This is vital knowledge you don't ever want to use but should know if your climbing takes you on multi-pitch routes.
Camping is just minutes from the crags and breakfast and
dinner is included and prepared by your guide. Nights are
spent relaxing around a campfire.
Taught by IFMGA/UIAGM internationally certified mountain guide, Dave Miller. Dave has been rock climbing over 25 years and is fully certidied which includes American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) rock guide certification.
