The Matterhorn - the world's most reconizable mountain.
To climb this magnificent Swiss Alp is a goal of a lifetime
of many a climber.
To prepare for our ascent of the Matterhorn, we do numerous
training climbs in the Zermatt and Saas Valley area. Our training
climbs are to get everyone prepared for the summit attempt
of the Matterhorn as well as to acclimate properly. Training
climbs include to Breithorn half-traverse, alpine rock climbing
in the Riffelhorn and climbs in the Saas Valley such as the Dri Hornlini, Jegihorn and the Weismeiss as conditions permit.
During the first part of the trip, we stay in small Swiss towns in the Saas Valley and high alpine huts. The trip allows you to experience a great cross-section of Swiss alpine climbing before tackling the Matterhorn itself.
Once dialed in on climbing in the alps, it's on to Zermatt and the Matterhorn
itself. We will ascend the famous Hornli Ridge in a two day
climb in which we will stay in the Hornli Hut. The ascent
of the Hornli Ridge involves a lot of moderate rock climbing
in which speed and efficiency are crucial for a summit success
- it is a long day of climbing with awesome exposure.
Our itnerary will allow for weather and possible rest days for a
higher success rate. CAG/IAG owner and IFMGA/UIAGM internationally
certified guide Dave Miller will be personally leading the
2010 European climbs. Truly a spectacular and classic alpine
climbing trip.
