Yosemite High Country Grand Trek
Itinerary

Day Zero
We meet at our campsite at Tuolumne Meadows in the Yosemite High Country at 6pm to discuss the itinerary and do a pack check. Afterwards we enjoy a fine camp dinner and campfire. We leave our group food and personal lunch food for the last four days to be delivered to us via porter re-supply.

Day One
We hike out of Tuolumne Meadows heading south along the John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail through the spectacular and scenic Lyell Canyon. We will establish a camp for the evening along the banks of the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River.

Day Two
We leave the Lyell Canyon and ascend towards the Vogelsang area where we pass through the high country lakes Cathedral Range. Our destination for the evening is a remote camp along the shores of Townsley Lake where we are surrounded by the majestic alpine scenery of the high peaks and snowfields of the Cathedral Range.

Day Three
Today is mostly descending as we travel down Fletcher Creek towards the Merced River Drainage, passing Emeric Lake. We make camp for the night near the Merced Lake High Sierra Camp.

Day Four
Today is a short hiking day as we travel through Echo Valley and ascend towards Sunrise Creek where we establish camp and rest up for our next goal, the summit of Yosemite's most recognizable landmark - Half Dome. Today we receive our porter re-supply of food and fuel.

Day Five
From our Sunrise Creek base camp we hike to the summit of Half Dome via the famous "Cable Route" up Half Dome's East face. The summit offers stellar views right down into Yosemite Valley, 4,000 ft below. We descend back to our base camp for a celebratory dinner.

Day Six
We leave our Sunrise Creek camp and ascend towards Cloud's Rest. After taking in more incredible mountain vistas from atop Yosemite's largest granite face, we make our way towards Sunrise Lakes where we establish our camp for the evening.

Day Seven
Our hike for the day takes us past the Sunrise High Sierra Camp, through Long Meadow and over Cathedral Pass before arriving at our destination for the evening, The Cathedral Lakes under in the Shadow of beautiful Cathedral Peak.

Day Eight
After enjoying our final morning in the Yosemite High Country we have a relaxing descent back towards our starting point, Tuolumne Meadows. We should arrive back at the trailhead in the early afternoon.
